Acting
Our acting class offers your young person a unique and fun-filled adventure into the construction of a character and the story in which that character lives. We focus, through a myriad of theatre games and exercises, on the cultivation of your child’s physical being, vocal quality and creative life!
While building character, dialogue and story from the imagination up, your child will not only learn the ins and outs of the world of acting and theatre, he or she will gain a well-developed and thoroughly transformed sense of self.
StageCombat/Sword Play
One of our most exciting classes, Stage Combat offers our students a chance to experience for themselves what its like to punch and be punched, kick and be kicked and slap and be slapped all with absolute safety and discipline.
During our daily workshop, your child will learn various staged moves including punches, kicks, hair-pulls, eye-pokes, face-slaps and more and then piece those moves together into an original, carefully choreographed combat sequence. In addition, your young person will have the unique opportunity to work, hands-on, with real stage combat rapiers learning and perfecting basic sword fighting technique.
Improvisation
Perhaps our most entertaining class, Improvisation gives our students the chance to laugh, play, and create with one another all the while developing skills that will last a lifetime. Through an endless maze of hilarious improv games, it is our goal to teach our students about flexibility, instinct and teamwork. Fun, top to bottom, this class is a must for anyone interested in the theatre!
StageMovement
It is the goal of our Movement Class to develop a true sense of physical awareness within each of our students. Through a series of energized activities, your student will learn how and why their body moves the way it does, what makes it exceptional and how to best utilize it in the development of character.
By the end of this workshop, it is our hope that each of our students discover a new sense of physical confidence while recognizing the uniqueness and vitality that is their own body.
Music/SongWriting
Unlike many others, our Music Class focuses on the creation of a musical piece from the imagination up. During this class, not only will your young person learn the techniques of using their voice in a healthy and productive manner, they will also, with the help of our teachers, be guided toward the creation of melodies and lyrics all their own.
It is our goal that by the end of this workshop, each of our students experiences a sense of their own musicality and a pride of ownership toward their new musical creation.
Dance
Whether its hip-hop, jazz, salsa, ballet or tap, our dance class provides students with the opportunity to build their very own dance piece from the imagination up. Through various technique-based exercises, students will gain a better understanding of rythme, styles and physical storytelling. In addition, students will learn to utilize and appreciate their own body as an instrument through which to express honest feeling and emotion.
Voice & Diction
With an attention to detail, our Voice and Diction class focuses on strengthening the voice for use on the stage and in every day life. Through various exercises, students will develop a stronger sense of vocal awareness beginning with breath, resonance and articulation. In addition, our expert instructors will engage students in fun and exciting dialect workshops where students will learn to sound like they are from Ireland, England, Russia, New York, Tennessee or anywhere else their imagination can take them.
Foley Sound Effects
One of our most unique classes, Foley Technique teaches students how to create their own sound effect mosaic from the imagination up. Utilizing only hand made materials, no computers or high tech equipment, students will construct and play one-of-a-kind instruments in conjunction with self-scripted dramatic material. From a thunderous storm to a galaxy bound space ship, from an old time trip on horseback to a walk through a bird filled field, students will learn to add new and powerful dimension to their performances.
