American Cancer Society   “ACTING EXPLORATION SERIES” 
in association with Centre Stage Dance Academy DiscoveryOnstage’s year-round theatrical education program provides students with a comprehensive journey through the art of acting.  Whether your young person is serious about the craft or just interested in having some fun, there is something for everyone in the DiscoveryOnstage Acting Exploration Series.  Join us for all or part of the exploration!  Its a journey you’ll, no doubt, want to be a part of!    



DiscoverPerformance

     January: Monologue Performance
Blow your audience away in less than a minute!  Students will develop truthful, in-the-moment acting through a one-minute theatrical monologue useful for stage or school auditions. 
February:  Commercial Acting
30 seconds of fame!  Learn to make strong choices, take direction and improvise while connecting with your product and your audience through the unique art of commercial acting.  

March:  Acting for the Camera
Slate your name, hit your mark and learn what it takes to be a movie star!  Students will get in front of the camera and discover the art of film acting by watching themselves on screen.        



DiscoverTechnique

September:Improv/Theatre Games
Students will learn to develop creative thinking, unlock the imagination and to understand self-awareness and the importance of listening through laughter-filled improvisational games.

October:  Intro to Acting
Through fun and exciting exercises, this class will focus on the development of character, the learning of dialogue, the understanding of stage directions and the importance of teamwork.

Nov/December:  Scene Study
This class focuses on how to break down a scene, how to make strong and active character choices, and the understanding and application of given circumstances, objective, obstacle and tactic.  Students will be given a scene to rehearse, polish, and perform.

Snag the big role!  With a focus on making strong and active choices, students will be guided through a series of commercial, stage and tv/film auditions, learning to present themselves the way the pros do.      

May:  Cartoon Voiceovers
In this unique experience, students will explore creativity with their voice, learn microphone technique and even invent their own character!
