DiscoveryOnstage
ourStory
While working as professional actors and acting teachers for a combined twenty years, Jeremy Kent Jackson and Dominic Catrambone came together in late 2006 with an idea. That idea was to pool their knowledge and resources to form a unique youth oriented theatre company that would offer Southern California a different kind of theatrical education -- DiscoveryOnstage. The principles behind it? To provide young people with a nurturing workshop environment in which to develop their own theatrical ideas and to provide the artistic training, skills, and opportunities necessary for translating their original creations into one of a kind onstage performances in front of family, friends, and community. Having worked with many theatre companies and educational organizations in the past, Jeremy and Dominic felt that there was room in the arts community for a place that focused specifically on student conceived, written, and performed projects. They believe that by building something from the imagination up, young people will develop life skills that will become invaluable and everlasting.

dedication Dominic Catrambone Dominic Catrambone, a Chicago native, came to Los Angeles to complete his Acting degree at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West. Upon graduating with Honors, he formed a theatre company with fellow alum and continued training with such teachers as Maria Gobetti, Tom Ormeny, Sebastian Brook and Michael Woolson of the famed Larry Moss Studio. Dominic has performed in and produced dozens of independent short films, music videos, features, television shows and stage plays throughout LA and his hometown, most notably the critically acclaimed comedy An Evening With The Egos, directed by Maria Gobetti, at the Victory Theatre Center (Burbank, CA) and Breadline Center for the Performing Arts (Chicago). He is also a successful voiceover artist having been heard in over a hundred commercials, video games, promos, and other projects most notably for such products as Mitsubishi and Cellular One. Currently he is serving as the brand voice of Zicam as well as the “Inner Voice” guy on Chevron’s ExtraMile radio campaign.
While maintaining a career as a professional actor, Dominic has relished the opportunity to share his talents and insight with young performers. He directed the Centre Stage, Inc. youth productions of Seussical the Musical and The Wizard of Oz and co-directed Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and HONK. His classical training led to his several year involvement in an educational Shakespearian production designed to introduce youth to the Bard’s works. Voiceover, scene study, improv, monologue prep, stage combat and audition technique are some of the classes Dominic has taught at such places as the Youth Academy of Dramatic Arts (YADA), Glendale Center Theatre and Centre Stage Academy. He also offers private coaching in the Los Angeles area and often tries to involve his students in his independently produced projects.
Having been Southern California residents for enough years to consider it home, Jeremy and Dominic went in search of just the right community to house their new enterprise. The community that they were searching for would have to be one that richly valued education and the arts; one that had room for a new arts organization and seemed to express a need for it; one that boasted adequate facilities and a willingness to make those facilities available; and most importantly, the community that they were searching for would have to be one that possessed a strong sense of self, an overall feeling of welcomeness, and a pride in the citizens that call it home. Dominic and his wife Juliette have taught regularly at Centre Stage Academy in the City of Monrovia and suggested the town as a possibility. After walking the streets, talking with the people, and doing a bit of research, it quickly became clear that Monrovia would indeed be the perfect city for DiscoveryOnstage to call home. Here’s to a long and fruitful partnership!
